Huge Manchester NHS jobs recruitment fair offering hundreds of ‘same day’ hires at Emirates Old Trafford

Recruiter Indeed has teamed up with the NHS on a big recruitment drive to hire new healthcare support workers for Greater Manchester.

Hundreds of jobseekers are expected to be made on-the-day job offers at a two-day NHS recruitment event in Manchester, hosted by job site Indeed and the NHS.

The organisations are partnering on a series of in-person recruitment events across England to interview for healthcare support worker (HCSW) roles in the health service.

The recruitment events are aimed at candidates who are looking to start out in a healthcare career, return to work after a break, or change careers from another sector.

There are currently thousands of vacancies with the NHS and a backlog of patients awaiting treatment following the pandemic.

Recruiters say some of those who are successful could be offered a job on the same day, subject to post-interview checks.

At an earlier pilot event in Plymouth, nearly 300 people were interviewed, resulting in 239 job offers.

Healthcare support workers work across a variety of medical settings, from mental health to children’s services, providing help to patients.

There are no set entry requirements to become a healthcare support worker but you may be assessed for skills like good communication and problem-solving skills, plus demonstrating a passion for helping people.

Bosses say some go on to become future nurses, nursing associates and midwives.
